Done and Dusted

The comeback is always greater than the setback. What can I say, life has been, well, a lot. But the good news is that I’m back and ready for action!

A quick catch-up:

After 20+ years in retail and ecommerce, and a couple of years in brick-and-mortar leadership, I’m doing something completely different. I’m now a Marketing Specialist at a company in the Scientific Consulting and Laboratory Services. The title doesn’t really describe what I do, but what job title ever does?

Yep, you read that right. The person who spent decades selling everything from tchotchkes to furniture is now in the world of science. 😄

Honestly? I couldn’t be more excited. It’s a role where I get to pull together everything I’ve picked up over the years — writing, marketing, SEO, and ecommerce — and apply it in a way it hasn’t really been applied before. That kind of challenge is exactly what I needed.

Things are not only clicking again, but my brain is also on fire! Art classes, voice lessons, karaoke, swimming, sunning, AI, and who knows, maybe even dating, are already in motion (all except the dating bit, lol). The art class is up next – June 24th to be exact. I can’t wait!

Collaging photos with drawings is right up my alley, and I have the perfect collaborative project in mind. I’m going to partner with one of my friends, an accomplished artist, to create something special with photos she recently took. Spoiler alert: the visual centerpiece of the work will be pictures she took of my hands. More to come on that.

I’ve located a piano tuner, found a voice teacher, and think I’ve successfully cajoled my oldest son’s fiancée into doing a duet with me when I’m ready to rock ‘n roll. Speed dating may or may not be in my near future – the jury is still out on that one.

Oh, and of course, I’ve dusted off angelswearplaid.com. What you’re seeing here is the result of one of my working sessions with Claude, my AI brainstorming buddy. Not the writing, I’d never let anyone write for me. But the ideating, the collaborating, the learning, the – what appears to be magic, but isn’t – is quickly becoming a part of my creative process. I can’t wait to share more.

That last chapter, the dormant and trying one, is done and dusted, and we’re back to faith, trust, and pixie dust.

Alrighty then – let’s get back to noticing life out loud. You never know what you might find when you stop by for a visit. Sometimes it’ll make you laugh out loud. Occasionally, there might be an unexpected tear or two. And if I’m doing things right, you may even stop and think, “Wait, me too.”

Pull up a chair, get comfortable, and enjoy. I’ve been noticing out loud since 2011, and believe it or not, I’m just getting started.
