About

I started this blog in 2011 because of a neighbor named Bill.

Bill wasn’t what you’d call warm and fuzzy. But one winter morning, he showed up across the street with a snowblower and cleared my entire driveway without being asked. Standing at my window watching him, all I could think was — he’s an angel. A plaid-jacketed, unlikely angel.

That’s when I knew I had something to write about.

Not breaking news. Not expert advice. Just the stuff most people walk past — the small moments that turn out to be the big ones, the strangers who show up exactly when you need them, the ordinary Tuesday that changes everything if you’re paying attention.

I’ve lived a lot of life across a lot of zip codes. There have been some genuinely hard chapters, the kind that leave marks. But somewhere in every single one of them, something unexpected showed up. A teacher. A neighbor. A $20 cash back button at a checkout screen. Grace wearing a plaid jacket.

I write about all of it. Sometimes it’ll make you laugh out loud. Occasionally, it might bring a tear. Hopefully, it’ll make you think. And if I’m doing my job right, you’ll finish reading and think — wait, me too.

Pull up a chair. I’ve been noticing out loud since 2011.
